Community engagement - working in inclusive ways: understanding exclusion, discrimination and disadvantage

‘Equalities’ is integral to empowering and inclusive community engagement. It is important that everyone is clear about statutory duties and their own responsibility for delivering inclusive engagement activities.

This workshop explores how we can work in ways to ensure that, in a time of reduced resources and what seems like a gradual watering down of equalities duties and legislations;
•We connect and engage with those members of the community who may be particularly disadvantaged and least likely to make their voices heard
•We use whatever resources we have to their best advantage with an awareness of the impact on different groups
•We continue to provide relevant services for vulnerable people and unequal groups in society

It is for....
••Managers and practitioners
•VCS and public sector officers
•Anyone who is involved in community engagement work
